Romanesque Harp or Guittern
Faculty: Asier de Benito
In this workshop the luthier Asier de Benito will teach participants how to build a Romanesque harp or a Guittern.
The guittern will be based on the depiction from the Cantigas de Santa Maria of Alfonso X (Codex El Escorial, j.b.2, fol. 90).Three double strings. No carvings.
The Romanesque harp will be based on different 12th-century representations. 12 strings. No carvings.
All materials and tools will be provided.
At the end of the workshop students will take with them the instrument that they have built. These instruments can be used if the participants also want to take the Manuscript to Performance course, the Voices & Instruments course, or the Roman de Fauvel workshop.
