How to get to Besalú
The main cities close to Besalú are Barcelona and Girona. Both are well connected to other important cities by airplane, train, and bus connections.
From outside Spain to Barcelona
Barcelona is connected to cities in all the world by an extensive amount of flights. Once in the airport you can reach the city center by bus or train.
The city is connected by train and high-speed train as well. If you are coming from France, remember that the closest stop to Besalú is Girona’s station (also for high-speed trains).
From outside Spain to Girona
There are trains that connect Girona with different cities in Europe.
The AVE (Renfe) is the new high speed train that connects Spain with France.
Girona also has an international airport that connects the city with other important European cities (the low cost Ryan Air is the main company in operation here).
There are 3 main possibilities:
- There is a direct bus from Barcelona to Besalú. The name of the bus company is Teisa. Bus Schedule »
The bus stop in Barcelona is close to Passeig de Gracia train station (where the airport train stops) and the Aerobus stop in Plaça Catalunya. This is located at Carrer de Pau Claris 117 just below Carrer de Consell de Cent. See google map.
We do recommend you this direct bus to Besalú since it is the shortest trip possibility and you don’t have to do any transfer.
2. From the airport you can take a direct bus to Girona (line 602). The name of the bus company is Sagalés »

3. An alternative to reach Besalú is the train (Barcelona Airport or Barcelona Center -> Girona). Then by bus Girona-Besalú:
- 1st step: Take the train from Barcelona to Girona. Train information »
- 2nd step: Take the bus from Girona to Besalú. The bus station is next to the train station.

Accommodations in Besalú
For the participants of this course, the town of Besalú offers free lodging in the sporting complex: a communal space (NO PRIVATE ROOMS) with sleeping cots and public bathrooms and showers (limited number of people, first come first served). Food is not included.
Besalú has various restaurants, some with dishes between 5-8 euros.
